A Classic/Minimalist Restoration of a 1900's Glebe Town House in Ottawa

Vision:

Restoring the interior detailing of the 1900’s Glebe townhouse in such a way as to feel as if it had always been there. But with a modern interpretation that pays tribute to french colonial venacular and creates a very accomadating old world elegance.

Transformation:

This was a challenging project for all, because the kitchen was in very good condition and not bad, just not suited to this homes vintage and architectural details. It truly speaks to the value of fine design as being one of the most sustainable, green practices available to us. We donated the uppers and shipped the rest of to our shop to refinish them in an eco-friendly lacquer, opened up the wall a little, added some gorgeous honed Carrera marble countertops and voila! A few years later it was time to update the rest of the house and have it set for the next 100 years.

With careful interior design detailing we created beautiful floor to ceiling custom wood closets throughout this home for elegant and ample storage solutions. We created moving walls and hidden doors to add modern elements in a seamlessly integrated way. A minimalist new fireplace provide ambiance and warmth.

The gem of this extensive renovation is the luxurious and understated master bathroom with a walk in shower, vintage refurbished claw foot tub and marble faced custom steel vanity. We hand-picked and oriented every piece of marble that went into the bathroom and performed a couple dry lays to ensure the grain direction is seamless and feels balanced and harmonious. With such careful attention to detail worthy of such fine materials our clients are proud of the lasting legacy they have created. Also, they are delighted with the ease and comfort they experience in their newly renovated home.
