We invite you to reflect on your values individually and as a family, and decide on 3 core values that you would like your home to embody. This becomes your north star on your homecoming journey. Every decision moving forward will be aligned with your core values.
2. Create Your Why List
We know all about Wishlists. What is most important and too often overlooked is WHY you would like the features you have chosen. Now you can take it a step further and assess if each of your whys aligns with your core values.
A wise designer understands psychology and what home means, and they may be able to meet your needs in creative and wonderful ways if they understand your whys and values. For example, every home needs a bathroom. If you value refuge or beauty, a spa experience might be ideal … Imagine an oasis of plants and sunlight, a private water closet … You might like to add a steam feature to your shower; it takes up no extra space like what we did for Diem, a lawyer with a young family who says even just a few minutes experiencing it every morning is transportive and inspiring.
3. Choose the Right Property
Our homes are one of the few material things we can invest in that don’t depreciate as soon as we drive off the lot. They can greatly increase our wealth in every respect when we develop them wisely. The one thing we can’t change is its location.
Make sure the location of your home supports the lifestyle you aspire to. Is it nestled in the amenities you value, schools, shops, restaurants, vistas, views, walkability, beauty, safety, culture, stimulation…
Does its location align with the core values you identified in Step 1?
Many of our clients, who are fiscally conservative and risk averse, are wisely choosing to invest in their homes as their primary wealth-building strategy. The housing market is typically secure.
